Building resilience and connection in the Aorere Valley through grassroots action, scientific collaboration and community leadership.
Living in Golden Bay has deepened my commitment to contributing locally. These initiatives bring together my One Health expertise with hands-on community engagement – from strengthening food systems to protecting native biodiversity.

Aorere Valley Practical Living Series
Building community food security through shared knowledge and practical skills
Monthly gatherings at Bainham Hall where neighbours learn food preservation, swap produce, tend community gardens and build lasting connections. This initiative, supported by Rural Women Bainham branch, creates spaces for skill-sharing across generations while strengthening our local food systems.
Other Community and Conservation Work
From tracking native bird populations with AI technology to helping with reporting on invasive species management and supporting community networks – these projects connect scientific approaches with grassroots conservation action in our region.
